Once those are completed, things should go back to normal, but I plan on getting my blog updated atleast every 2-3 days with new tech tips and more general nerd news.

Thanks for all the emails of support from people and thanks for being patient while I get all this shit worked out :)

Linux Vulnerability: Code #1
Today, I release the code for the 1st vulnerability that I'm playing with right now (these come from Hacking: The Art of Exploitation by Jon Erickson.). Go pick it up if you like these ideas.

The Code: (vuln2.c)
int main(int argc, char *argv[])
char buffers[5];
strcpy(bufer, argv[1]);
return 0;

Making it work:
gcc -o vuln2 vuln2.c
sudo chown root.root vuln2
sudo chmod u+s vuln2

This allows for a person to use environment variables that are used by the shell for a variety of things. The key point of interest is that they are stored in a area of memory that program execution can be redirected to.
Basically, if the shellcode is to small, the default storage becomes the environmental variable. Try it out and let me know what you guys think. I'm trying to play around with and I'm still working my way through the book.

I'm Not Dead!!!
After a long weekend of not doing anything at all that was suppose to be done, I'm finally awake again. It was a great weekend filled with parties, parties, and more parties. Plus 3 college courses. All in all, it was a great weekend, but everything it back to normal and either tonight or tomorrow I'll go back to putting tech posts up on the site.

Broken Binary Update
The development part of the site sits in my lap right now. I'm trying to get this new content management system up so that Alex can work his magic and merge it into the Version 3 code for It's all looking good and it's just up to me to go ahead and get this coding done. Not much is left, but I need to get the databases setup and go ahead and write a user signup script and then it should be good to hand over to Alex.

What Is Going on With Broken Binary?
Is the site dead? No, far from it. Alex and myself feel that we want the entire site written by us. That means that the content management system and the forums will be custom written just for our site. This is going to take some serious time, but we want to extend the site out to everyone and we feel that this is the best way to do it.
Why do this you ask? We are re-designing the entire site because we want to know exactly how everything works. It's like the difference between using Red Hat and using Gentoo. You use Red Hat just to get it up and running and you run Gentoo because you want full control; you want to know how everything runs.
Also, this makes the site a community project. We are open to other developers who want to help. We will be doing alot of projects and could use alot of help, so feel free to email either of us: (Alex) (myself)

So in the end, give us time, the site will be back up, and still check out our temp forums. We will be working constantly on the new site design. :)
